Luke van Boekel
Massage Therapist
Luke grew up playing sport competitively from a young age, and then entered into the commercial gym space over a decade ago. He obtained an injury from lack of knowledge about effective strength training and recovery, and began to explore the best methods of training to avoid injury.
Aiming to empower others to refine their training practices, Luke completed his Personal Training qualification and his Cert IV in Massage Therapy in 2015.
He invested time into learning how the human body functions best, and has maintained a successful solo business since 2019, providing training and massage services across elite athlete teams (including roller derby, football and basketball) and workplace wellness programs with government agencies.
He now trains and coaches others primarily utilising calisthenics, mobility and strength training. He completed his Diploma Remedial Massage Therapy in 2022.
Luke’s experience in competitive sport, his interest in movement and mobility and his personal encounters with training-related injury have informed his massage and personal training approach. Treatments emphasise the importance of active mobility and incorporate trigger point, deep tissue and sports massage, and a focus on activating the parasympathetic nervous system to enable fast and effective recovery.
Outside of his work, Luke enjoys playing in multiple hardcore bands, seeing live music and dancing.
