2026 Myponga Planting Festival

This June Long Weekend, we head to Myponga for three days of hands-in-the-soil regeneration. Be part of a long-term landcare project, build new skills, contribute to revegetation and biodiversity, and deepen connection with place and community.

This is the first of three years of planting to restore 45Ha into native low woody grassland, returning vital habitat and biodiversity for creatures big and small. The planting festival and project ecology is guided by our landcare partners BioR Australia.  We’re kicking off the 2026 planting season with an ambitious goal: 16,000 native seedlings planted across three days. This event marks the beginning of Bio·R’s 2026 season and contributes to their long-term mission to restore 100 hectares of habitat each year by 2032.

This is practical climate action. Collective. Grounded. Local.

Why this matters

Eco-grief and climate anxiety are real. So is the need for tangible action. Planting 16,000 seedlings will create vital habitat for wildlife and contribute to long-term ecological repair along our coastline. It’s a meaningful step in rebuilding resilient ecosystems.

We believe regeneration is stronger when it’s shared. When we gather, work side by side, and leave the land better than we found it, something shifts. Not just in the soil, but in us.

Our landcare partners Bio·R are a grassroots not-for-profit that reconstructs habitats at the scale and complexity required to ensure our biodiversity is secure for the future. They generate long-term funding for restoration, promote the science-based research necessary to deliver successful habitat reconstruction for wildlife and reconnect people to nature, so they may develop the love and commitment to care for it for future generations.

What the weekend looks like

Whether you’re a returning working bee regular at Myponga, a Bio·R Champion, or joining for the first time, you’ll find a welcoming community of people who care deeply about restoring the land.

Each day follows a simple rhythm:

  • 9:30am Arrival and check-in
  • 9:45am Safety briefing and introduction
  • 10:00am Morning planting session
  • 12:00pm Staggered lunch break
  • 1:00pm Afternoon planting session
  • 3:00pm Afternoon tea
  • 3:30pm Close

Expect fresh coastal air, steady purposeful work, good conversation, and the quiet satisfaction of seeing thousands of seedlings take root. Catering is decentralised and brought directly to the planting zones, so we can stay immersed in the landscape rather than walking back and forth.
