16 – 22 June
Expand your horizons.
“Body like a mountain, heart like the ocean, mind like the sky.”
– Zen master Dogen
This retreat is a soulful journey of practice, culture, and connection. You’re invited to spend a week surrounded by mountains, ocean and sky with Human.Kind Lead Facilitators Adam Whiting and Tessa Leon.
Explore your edges in daily meditations, progressive asana workshops, and luxurious restorative sessions. All held in the cloud shala where you gaze to the horizon as sea breezes caress your skin. Explore the sacred culture of Eastern Bali visiting a local water temple, and get intimate with the land on a trekking tour of luscious rice paddies and local villages.
Nurture yourself with massages, facials and body treatments from the delightful onsite day spa. Your first one’s on us.
In your free time, relax in your spacious, private room, wander down to the local beach, or hang by the pool (waterslide included). Once the sky turns pink it’s time to feast on another tropical vegetarian banquet overlooking the sunset.

Your retreat
Join us for 6 nights to create space for personal exploration, community connection, deep rest and of course, play!
Awaken each morning in your private room with ocean views to watch the spectacular sunrise over the water. Each day begins with gentle meditation and breathwork before a tropical breakfast overlooking the sunlight on the ocean. Mid-mornings will be your progressive asana workshop. Two hours of movement with a different focus each day to uncover new possibilities in your body. Be inspired by the vast horizon in the shala as you move to your own rhthym of breath and flow.
After a leisurely lunch and a rest, afternoons will be for exploring, rejuvinating, and following your curiosity. There will be two cultural excursions, one to a sacred water temple where you can bathe in the waters and learn about Balinese blessings. Another day we will take an easy trek along rice paddies with Mt Agung in the background, visiting local villages and sampling their homemade teas and honey.
Some afternoons we invite you to sink into an extended restorative or yin practice, including long yoga nidras to help you drop in and fully reset your nervous system. There will be free time for you to wander down to the day spa and be nurtured with massages, facials, manicures or body treatments. We’ll gift you your first 1hr Balinese healing massage. After that, there is plenty of space to enjoy being taken care of at this luxurious and very accessibly-priced spa.
The dining room overlooks the big sky so sunset is a highlight. As you sip on tropical juices from the local fruit trees we’ll connect and share stories from the day. Some evenings we’ll drift from there into sleep, other times we’ll climb back into the cloud shala to stargaze and be guided into spacious states of big sky consciousness.
The entire schedule is optional, and you are free to choose what best suits your needs, day to day, hour to hour. No pressure, no timelines. For those who wish, other additional activities are available at very reasonable prices, should you wish to take a cooking class, go snorkelling, or adventure further into the island.
Location
We select venues that align with our values of ‘healthy humans for a healthy planet’. This eco retreat in the far eastern edge of Bali is nestled above Blue Lagoon beach. Overlooking the village of Padangbai, it has panoramic views of Mt Agung and the vast ocean. The team is committed to the Balinese Hindu philosophy of ‘Tri Hita Karana’, the principle of harmony between humans, the divine, and nature. This applies to landcare practices including coral restoration on local reefs. They received an ‘Environmental Management’ award for ongoing commitment to sustainability.
Accomodation
This retreat offers spacious privacy with all villas in lush garden settings with expansive ocean views. Each bedroom has a double bed with a private indoor/outdoor bathroom, many set into the gardens themselves, as well as a loft and a daybed for relaxing, and a kitchen dining space to lounge in. Most villas are two bedroom. With a few one bedroom private villas available. Details below.
The villas are designed open-air to catch maximum breezes. Very few have aircon as it is too energy intensive. Instead, ceiling fans and natures breezes on the hilltop help keep the rooms cool. A few rooms have aircon installed so let us know if this is important to you.
As the villas are partly open to nature you can expect to be part of an an ecosystem that includes birds, butterflies, frogs, geckos, and plants. Occasionally monkeys and monitor lizards may swing by. Since the venue does not fog with pesticides there are sometimes bees, ants and mosquitoes. They have planted neem trees, a natural mosquito repellent, and provide mosquito nets for the beds. Expect to be lulled by nature sounds and a chorus of birdsong each day.
